Our Town's History

From Humble Beginnings

Ranlo began as a Gaston County mill village named for industrialists John Calvin Rankin and William Thomas Love. Textile mills and worker housing shaped the community long before July 29, 1963, when residents incorporated the Town of Ranlo and chose self-government.

From those early days, Ranlo has grown into a hometown of more than 4,500 residents, still Built With Pride.
